First-time buyers struggling to find an affordable route to the property ladder could find the answer to their problem at selected Orion Homes’ developments which have now been awarded funding for the government’s First Buy shared-equity initiative.

Designed specifically to support first-time buyers, First Buy brings together contributions from the government and house-builders to offer a 20 per cent equity loan which, along with a five per cent deposit from the purchaser, enables a 75 per cent mortgage on the rest of the property. Orion Homes are now able to offer the scheme on selected homes at Waterford Place in Normanton, Olympia Gardens in Dewsbury, Sunnydale Gardens in Ossett, Ravenfield Court in Conisbrough and Spring Place Park in Northorpe, near Mirfield.

“Orion Homes are delighted to become one of the select number of house-builders in the UK which have been chosen for First Buy,” said sales and marketing director, Dianne Reynolds. “It will be a real boost for many first-time buyers who are finding it difficult to raise enough money to secure an affordable mortgage. First Buy provides a superb means of combining low-cost home ownership with flexibility for the purchaser.”

“The First Buy loan is repaid on resale of the property, with the government's share available for reinvestment in more affordable housing. The scheme is only available on a limited number of properties so I would advise prospective first-time buyers to contact our head office or visit one of our Sales Information Centres as soon as possible to avoid missing out.”
